So I was walking alone in a park in the dark...
Well, that's not how this story actually starts.
I was smoking, alone, out front of the cafeteria. I watched as Liam, a co-worker of mine, busily worked away at some massive decorating project, for some event coming fast on the horizon. I wasn't alone for long, though, as another man came out the doors and silently lit up his cigarette. He was quiet and he went for a walk around the islands of industrious looking metal and concrete structures coming out of the ground every few feet at Trent.
I was smoking a Black, a longer cigarette than most and so even as I started before him he was finished before me. He moved for the door and much to his surprise, though not to mine, it was locked. He sighed and he walked away on a roundabout trip around the college to find an open door on the other side of Symon's campus.
This is where my story starts, walking alone in the park in the dark...
I finished sometime later and after trying to get Liam's attention to come open a door for me, which he appeared far too busy to do, I began to walk in a counter clockwise direction, all around the college. I passed a staircase and in a brief moment of hope I went up to see if there was an open door or a pathway to the science complex where there might be an open door. I was wrong...
Reaching the peak of the stairs I saw the corrugated iron bars on top of a high concrete wall. Hoping the it would be faster to climb this and see what was up when I got there. I ignored all walls, gates good sense and so I climbed onto the rooftops of Trent. I had a great view, standing in two feet of snow in naught but ankle socks and skater shoes. It was really nice to see the river from the roof.
Such is my story, of walking alone at a park in the dark...
